About

NewsNarratives (https://newsnarratives.com) is a women-led, independent online magazine that focuses on underreported social issues and human interest stories in the Philippines, written in longform.

We aim to help and inspire people through our storytelling by producing content that targets the heart to feel and provokes the mind to think and act—in a good way. We started all this in our own backyard, the Philippines, with a dream of pursuing stories from elsewhere.

We cover stories of people and communities whose struggles are left underreported, unheard, or unaddressed by society. We focus less on what governments and institutions failed to do for them; rather, we focus more on what can still be done.

We also report stories that inspire and give hope—those that tell of people winning life’s struggles, in hopes of learning from them, or of ordinary individuals contributing extraordinary work whether to their family or community. To us, they are among the many unsung heroes in our society.

Our longform stories are published a few times a year. Starting in 2025, we will only publish press releases from non-government institutions engaged in humanitarian work.
